There are several questions to be answered by the former members of the Rainy River District School Board and senior administration regarding the quadrupling of the severance package for senior administration.
Who brought the issue to the board? Was it a board member or someone in senior administration?
Was there any research done—were other boards canvassed to see what their severance packages are? Best practices would include some inquiries into this.
Who moved and seconded the motion? Did anyone vote against it? Was there a survey by the board to see if there was any public support for this?
Our new education director was hired only a short time ago in April, 2010. This would be unprecedented to be quadrupling a severance package for someone who has barely been in the job.
