Elizabeth Berglund, 90, of Rainycrest Home for the Aged, Fort Frances, Ont., passed away Monday, Feb. 23, 1998 at her residence.
Elizabeth was born July 17, 1907 in Virginia, Mn. to the late Carl and Anna Carlson. As a child, she moved with her parents to Fort Frances, where she attended Robert Moore School. Elizabeth attended high school in International Falls, Mn. and went on to graduate from Business School in Duluth, Mn.
On Nov. 30, 1933, Elizabeth was united in marriage to Ed Berglund, and together they settled in Fort Frances where Elizabeth was a lifelong resident. She was an active member of the Daughters of the Eastern Star, and a lifelong member of the Zion Lutheran Church.
Elizabeth embraced life and enjoyed spending time with people and friends. She also enjoyed playing Bridge.
Elizabeth was a very special mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who always put her family first and foremost in her life, and will be sadly missed by them.
She was predeceased by her husband, Carl Edwin “Ed” Berglund (Feb. 8, 1984); one brother Carl; two sisters, Ruth and Virginia; and very special people, sister-in-law, Esther and Jim Bedding.
Elizabeth is survived by her two sons, Jon Berglund and wife, Millie, of Owatonna, Mn., and Arthur Berglund and wife, Charolette, of Colorado Springs, Col.; two grandchildren, Michael Berglund and wife, Paula, of Minneapolis, Mn., and Linda and Joel Krueger of Burnsville, Mn.; four great-grandchildren, Katherine and Samuel Berglund, and Linda and Joel Krueger; one brother, Arthur Carlson and wife, Marge, of Winnipeg, Man.; one sister, Julie Ann Freeberg of Longview, Wash.; numerous nieces and nephews and special friends; and neighbour, Ute and Mike Bauwens of Fort Frances, Ont.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, Feb. 26, 1998 at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Fort Frances. Pastor Brian Keffer will officiate, with interment in Fort Frances Cemetery.
