A year on hold

Dear editor,

Two weeks. That’s what we were told over a year ago. Two weeks to flatten the curve and prevent the healthcare system from being overwhelmed. At the time, so much was unknown about this virus from China, that Canadians heeded the advice of Government/Health officials and put our lives on hold. Well it’s now been over a year and the longer this drags on the more difficult it becomes to have faith in our leaders. Facts can indeed be stubborn. The average age of “covid related deaths” is virtually identical to the regular life expectancy in Canada. The most dangerous lies are the ones which contain partial truths. “We must follow the science” we are told. In reality we are following the scientists, but only those that fit the narrative. Any other expert or health official who says otherwise is censored, accused of misinformation or worse. Over time truth has a way of rising to the surface. History teaches us totalitarian regimes silence those who speak truth. Thankfully people are starting to speak up. America’s Frontline Doctors and Canadian Doctors Speak Out are two organizations worth investigating. Freedom has actually never been free. At what point do we all become part of the problem if we are not willing to speak truth, demand transparency, and hold our elected officials accountable for transferring over unpreceded powers to Health officials while bypassing the parliamentary process and public consultation. It’s time for the fear-mongering to end and for all of us to get back to living. Otherwise, “God keep our land, glorious and free” will become a distant memory.
