Dear editor,
What a phenomenal Christmas parade that was held this past Saturday! The community was so supportive with their participation of floats. The variety of entries that were decorated with lights and music was a sight to behold! It seemed to be a never-ending parade with the culmination of Santa. As always Santa’s long trip from the Noth Pole did not hamper his enthusiasm. The kids loved his HoHoHo’s. The people walking beside the floats were decked out with lights and beautiful seasonal costumes. Being able to once again hand out treats to the onlookers was great.
A big thank you to Brad Scoyne who organized and led the team through many months of planning. Brad has been such a great addition to our Fort Frances Kiwanis Club. He brings experience and positivity from the clubs he has been involved with in the past. The smiles on the children’s faces, both on the floats and in the crowd was worth all the planning.
We were also very excited to have Bob Lidkea as our Grand Marshal. He has been with our local club for 70 years. Bob is our oldest Kiwanian and he comes with a wealth of knowledge, which he often shares with us.
Accolades to merchants, clubs, and individuals who provided vehicles for floats. It was wonderful to see all the people walking along the route and supporting their cause whether it was employers, sports teams or clubs.
Mega thanks to the local hockey teams who were collecting non-perishable food items and toys for the Salvation Army and UNFC.
Much appreciation to the Town of Fort Frances for the use of the barricades along the route, as well as allowing us to block off the street.
A big thank you, also to our Emergency Services and the volunteers who always find time to be an essential part of our parade! The bells, whistles, and sirens added to the excitement!
I am very proud to be part of such a hardworking club. We truly are a team!
