A few comments

Dear editor:
    After reading the article last week on the Super Stock Special at the Emo Speedway, I have a couple of comments and a few points to clear up.
    There were a fair amount of cautions; but to be clear, few were caused by contact between the cars. The majority of yellow flags flew because of the drivers “pushing” too hard and spinning themselves out, or going off the top of the banking.
    I was confused by these comments: “one line of traffic” and “follow the leader.” In actuality, there was plenty of passing going on.
    From the grandstand we watched as Ken Perry started 10th in the Midwest Modified feature and finished third. Dwayne Pelepetz had a great run in the Modified feature, started 16th and finished sixth.
    Gavin Paull restarted 15th after causing a stoppage in the Mod feature, but was determined and smooth enough to pick his way through the pack to a fourth-place finish.
    And you can’t take anything away from Glen Strachan, who had to use every ounce of heart fending off Greg Ferris in second. I understand Ferris’ frustration after he miscalculated the back stretch on the last lap—dropping from second to fifth.
    Yes, the track was dry (and dried more as the night went on), but the drivers wouldn’t have liked a “soup track” (wet) for the heats, either. I understand the track drying out the way it did as we normally run an average of eight races a night; this night we had a total of 15 races.
    Your reporter talked to people in the pits on the north side of the race track who were the recipients of the dust due to the wind blowing in from the south. Too bad he didn’t talk to a few fans in the grandstand.
    What I was hearing in the grandstand was that the track was dry but the racing was really good.
    One last comment. The picture used with the article was of Gavin Paull. I don’t dispute that Paull did a great job, but how about a picture of the Super Stocks or maybe one of the feature winners?
