Sky’s the limit

Ahh, the first day of school. The wistfulness of another summer vacation coming to an end mixed with the excitement of entering a new grade and seeing all your friends again.
It can be one of trepidation, too, whether it’s a youngster going into JK, making the jump from elementary to high school, or perhaps heading off to college or university for the first time. And it can be a stressful time for Grade 11 and 12 students faced with the added pressure of zeroing in on a career goal and deciding where to pursue their post-secondary education.
For some, they’ve already decided what they want to be—whether a doctor, nurse, teacher, social worker, or engineer. Others plan to be a journalist or veterinarian, a mechanic or electrician, or perhaps an actor or musician.
For many, however, the choice isn’t so obvious, especially if they’re only 16 or 17 years old.
What is clear is the importance of education. The knowledge and study habits acquired in grade school are crucial to future success, regardless if that path involves pursuing a university degree, college diploma, or a trade.
The job market is increasingly competitive and every advantage is needed to set yourself apart from the other applicants. It all starts with the mindset of being the best you can be no matter your career choice.
Settling for good enough, or average, just won’t cut it.
Follow your dreams whatever they may be—but always do so with passion and drive. The sky’s the limit for anyone if you put your mind to it.
