Salute youth

Take a look around—at school, in the library, at church, or on the field.
There are young “stars” everywhere who are making a difference, inspiring others, and building community. Yet many may not even realize the effect they are having on others.
As such, it’s time once again to recognize their dedication and nominate them for the 2014 Ontario Junior Citizen of the Year Award.
The Fort Frances Times strongly supports the Ontario Junior Citizen of the Year Awards so we can provide recognition for such outstanding young people who continue to be fine examples of leaders in our community.
The awards program is co-ordinated by the Ontario Community Newspapers Association (of which the Times is a member), and sponsored by TD Bank Group and the Insurance Bureau of Canada.
Any Ontario resident aged six-17 (as of Nov. 30) is eligible to be chosen as an Ontario Junior Citizen of the Year. Help us by nominating an individual who either is involved in worthwhile community service, contributing to their community while living with a physical or psychological limitation, has performed an act of heroism in the past year, or who show a commitment to make life better for others and do more than is normally expected of someone their age.
Up to 12 nominees will be chosen as the final recipients of the provincial award and will be invited to a special ceremony in Toronto next spring.
Nominate a deserving young person today, and the Times will present them with a certificate of recognition and showcase their contributions in the newspaper.
The nomination deadline is Nov. 30.
Nomination forms are available at the Fort Frances Times office, as well as at www.ocna.org/juniorcitizen or by calling the OCNA at 1-905-639-8720 ext. 221.
Help us salute our youth—and pay tribute to our leaders of today and tomorrow.
