Let’s ‘rock’

The hard work is done. Now it’s time to have some fun!
That fun, of course, is the “Kraft Celebration Tour,” which rolls into town this weekend offering plenty of food and activities—and the chance to showcase Fort Frances to fellow Canadians from coast to coast.
The Fort Frances Curling Club certainly was a big beneficiary when our community banded together last month to beat Dryden in the 24-hour, head-to-head online voting showdown—earning $25,000 to put towards the cost of its new geothermal heating and cooling system.
The real winner, though, is Fort Frances. When TSN’s SportsCentre is broadcast live from the Sorting Gap Marina this Sunday, we’ll have no better opportunity to show Canada the beauty of our area, our community spirit and warmth, and why we choose to call this town home.
It’s our 15 minutes of fame—and, frankly, publicity no money can buy.
Let’s make the most of it!
Hopefully, a huge crowd turns out at the Sorting Gap Marina—first to enjoy the community barbecue being hosted by Kraft from 3-4:15 p.m., then to unleash unabashed enthusiasm when SportsCentre hits the airwaves at 5 p.m. and throughout the broadcast.
There will be other chances to roll out the welcome mat, too. TSN co-anchors Darren Dutchyshen and Jennifer Hedger, for instance, are slated to take part in a street curling exhibition Saturday from 2-3 p.m. at the Sorting Gap, then sign autographs on Sunday from noon-1 p.m. at Safeway.
A mix-and-mingle social also is planned Saturday night at the curling club starting at 8 p.m.
Meanwhile, it’s great to see local businesses getting caught up in the buzz with a storefront window-decorating contest and a pair of food drives—all of which, again, serve to demonstrate the vibrant community we can be for all to see.
This is our moment to shine. And as curlers would say, “Let’s ‘rock’ this house.”
See you at the “Gap!”
