‘Stuff-a-Cruiser’ a huge success

The annual “Stuff-a-Cruiser” was held Saturday at Cloverleaf Groceries in Emo, as well as at locations in Rainy River and Fort Frances. The event ran from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

And what a success it was! The “Cruiser” fundraiser, along with donations given at the “Holly Daze” parade, resulted in over 3,000 pounds of food.

There was also a generous donation of $1,000 made by Enbridge (formerly Centra Gas).

The event ran smoothly with many volunteers, including help from the Girl Guides and Brownies from the Emo and surrounding area.

All monies raised stay with the Emo Food Bank. This food bank covers a very large rural area.

Happily, the shelves at the food bank are now filled and many people can enjoy the donations made over the weekend.

The “Holly Daze” weekend was a wonderful way to get into the Christmas spirit.

As always, it had a great parade. So great to enjoy hot chocolate and cookies during the parade.

I was fortunate enough to enjoy a delicious homemade, mint Nanaimo square at Rainy River Meats during the parade.

The fireworks were probably the best ever.

The two prizes of $250 Emo Chamber bucks were won by Dave Lee and Kayla Morrison.

Hats off to all Emo volunteers that make this part of many people’s Christmas tradition.

Good news on Pat Hyatt’s recovery from her intense surgery on Nov. 19.

She returned to the Fort Frances Hospital on Friday, Dec. 6 and returned to her home on Dec. 10. She continues to recover.

Pat and her family are feeling blessed that “their family will be home for Christmas.”
