A church service will take place at the Stratton Millennium Hall at 10 a.m. on Remembrance Day.
The Emo Legion will host its free Remembrance Day luncheon on Nov. 11. This takes place at 12:30 p.m. Also taking place is the annual Emo Remembrance Day supper starting at 5 p.m. Tickets are $25 and children 10 and under pay $12. Tickets are available at the Emo Legion, Tompkins Hardware and Tompkins Outdoors.
Cenotaph services will be held at the following locations.
- Stratton Cenotaph at 11 a.m.
- Barwick at 12 p.m.
- Devlin at 1:30 p.m.
- Emo at 2 p.m.
- Manitou Services at 2:45 p.m.
Emo happenings
The Emo Legion will host its Beer and Burger and meat draw this Friday ( Oct. 30. This starts at 5 p.m., with the meat draw taking place at 7 p.m.
The Legion will host a cornhole tournament on Friday, Nov. 6. $30 is the entry fee per team. Doors open at 6 p.m.; games start at 7 p.m. A canteen and bar will be available. Must be 17 or older to attend. To register, text 276-3451.
The Emo Legion is selling 50/50 tickets. Tickets are five dollars each or a book of 5 for $20. Proceeds help the Emo Legion with expenses and the Emo food bank. The draw takes place Dec. 5. Be sure to purchase a ticket and try your luck at being the successful winner.
La Valee events
Events coming up for the La Vallee seniors are a Coffee Gathering on Nov. 3 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
There will be a seniors’ bingo on Nov. 2 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., and a potluck luncheon takes place Nov. 17 at noon. Bring your favourite dish. All events take place at the Devlin Hall.
Hunters’ dinner
The West End Lions Club will hold its annual hunters’ dinner featuring wild meat and fish on Saturday, Nov. 7. Doors open at 5 p.m., and dinner will be served at 6 p.m. This takes place at the Stratton Rec Centre. Advance tickets are $50 per person. Tickets can be purchased online at westlions.ca. Outdoor wreaths for cemetery gates
The Cemetery Committee of La Vallee has decided to get together to make wreaths and outdoor pots to place at the cemetery gates. The date has been scheduled for Dec. 10. A few volunteers are needed to make them and some to cut cedar/pine/birch/ and spruce boughs. 807 Selects fish fry
A reminder that the 807 Selects 170 Girls will host a fish fry fundraiser on Sunday, Nov. 1 at the Devlin Hall to help fundraise for their trip to Europe. This will take place from 4 p.m. to 7 pm. Fish, sides and refreshments will be served. Tickets are $25; to pre-order tickets, email Selectsportugal2027@gmail.com. Tickets will also be available at the door.
Dance pulled pork supper
The Dance Community Hall committee and volunteers will host a pulled pork supper on Sunday, Nov. 15 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Adults pay $20; ages 7 to 12 pay $10. Tickets are available at Cloverleaf, Devlin’s Corner Store or General Supply.
