Many upcoming happenings will be taking place in rural areas.
The Township of LaVallee Seniors 55+ and Recreation Committee
will host a turkey supper, catered by the Emo Legion at the Emo Legion( Devlin Hall under construction). This supper takes place March 7, doors open at 5p.m. and supper will be served at 6p.m. The bar will be available. 100 seats available. Call Pat at 276-3042 or Lisa at 276-7555.
The World Day of Prayer is Friday, March 6. St. Patrick’s church in Emo will host this year’s event starting at 1:30 p.m. The theme for this year’s World Day of Prayer is “I Will Give You Rest: Come.”

Convening in the sanctuary of worship, followed by soup and sandwiches in the hall at 12:30.
Lunch provided by participating denominations at $5. Location- Emo Knox United Church ( 2 Roy Street).
This Monday, February 16, the Alberton Recreation Committee will host a Family Fun Day at the Millennium Park. The fun starts at 11 a.m. and will finish up at 2 p.m.
Sliding, skating, snow sculpturing and painting will add to the fun. Hotdogs, s’mores and hot chocolate will be provided. Please bring your own sleds and skates.
The Emo Legion will host a dance on February 14, starting at 7 p.m. Music will be provided by Dwight Tank.
The Emo Legion will host Beer and Burger on February 20. There will also be a Country Jam that night. Music starts at 7 p.m.
Last weeks’s February 6 Beer and Burger saw Gayle Hyatt and Linda Carmody win the meat draws. Meat was provided from Cloverleaf Grocers.
There will be a Cornhole tournament at the Emo Legion on February 27. Registration has started for this tournament.
A reminder that cribbage is played every Wednesday night starting at 7 p.m. and carpet bowling and lunch takes place every Thursday at the Emo Legion. Call 482-2250 if you require further information.
Carolee Strachan was the lucky winner of January’s Riverside Health Care’s 50/50 draw. Carolee won over $14,000.00
Happy 95th birthday to Gwen Westover. Gwen reached this milestone birthday on February 12.
The Emo Seniors Centre will be hosting a special event for Family Day, March 16. Children and grandchildren are invited to come and enjoy. There will music with Scott Family Music, all attending will enjoy an hour of music and activities followed by a pizza party. For more information call Debbie at 271-1289.
