Northwest Bay fire still active

The fire that’s been active in Northwest Bay is being held. Over four hundred hectors have been effected by this fire that started on June 23. Firefighters remain on the scene. Extreme dry conditions are definitely a concern for not only northwestern Ontario but much of Canada.

We are reminded to take extreme caution in regards to the current conditions.

Happy retirement to Vicki Dorie as she officially retired June 30.

Vicky was employed by the MTO, starting as a seasonal worker in 1982, followed by 32 full time years. Vicki was extremely diligent and knowledgeable during her years with MTO. She definitely leaves hard shoes and a hard hat to fill.

Vicki hasn’t made any concrete retirement plans at this time, however she has plans of doing the many tasks left undone during her busy career at MTO.

Sincere sympathy, prayers and concern to Marion Hyatt and her family as they endure the passing of Mark Culhane. Mark passed July 1 after a long struggle with cancer. He will be sadly missed by many.
