Local United Churches resume weekly service

Both Devlin’s Guthrie United Church and Emo’s Knox are resuming church services.

Guthrie started services September 11. The congregation is moving forward with activities and will use other local clergy to enable them to do it. Guthrie Church services are at 9:45 a.m. Knox United (in Emo) will be holding services this Sunday. The worship will be led by Emo congregants. The church will explore “Removing our Masks Wisely-Spiderman vs Esther.” On September 25, the worship will be led by Anne Mailloux. Services at Emo Knox are at 11a.m.

A sure sign fall is upon us is the annual Guthrie United Church Harvest Supper. This takes place October 2 at the Devlin Hall. The time the meal will be served is from 5-7 p.m.

Turkey, ham and all the fixings will be served and you can end the meal with homemade pie.

Be sure to mark your calendar for this event. It’s always a crowd pleaser!

A reminder that Naicatchewenin (Northwest Bay) will be hosting their Bass and Walleye (catch and release) fishing tournament on September 30. The cost to register is $300.00 per team. There will be a “Country Jam” held September 23 at the Emo Legion. The cost is $5.00 to attend and the old time music and dancing begins at 7 p.m. There will also be a “Country Jam” on October 21. This event is enjoyed by many that enjoy old time music.

The Emo Legion Branch #99 will host its next “Beer and Burger” September 23rd. Come out and enjoy a meal and socializing!

The Emo Legion is looking for a couple of groups of 4-5 people to volunteer for the beer and burgers evening. This would be once a month, and would be greatly appreciated!

Happy 60th birthday to Cindy Judson. Cindy turns sixty on September 16.

Congratulations and happy retirement wishes to Brad Hyatt. Brad retired from the OSB in Barwick on September 9.
