Local fishing teams place well in Rainy River Tournament

The annual Rainy River Walleye Tournament was held over the weekend and two of our Devlin teams placed second and third.

Placing second was Doug McBride and Solly Santiago. This husband and wife team had a total weight of 20.44 lbs.

Third place win went to Bill Godin and Leroy Wilson. Their total weight caught was 18.25 lbs.

Oliver and Jason Gibbons took first place with a total weight of 21.36.

The Gibbons brothers have won this six times, which is quite an accomplishment. Congratulations to this team as well as our two local teams.

There were 90 teams competing and once again a great tournament took place.

Birch Point Camp will host their annual fishing tournament this weekend. Dale LaBelle and his dedicated crew will be sure it’s also a top/notch event. There are 38 teams registered so far.

There will be a garage sale October 9 at the Alberton. This is to raise monies to help with costs of rebuilding the Dance Hall.

Donations are welcome please call Lisa at 275-7931 or Joanne at 486-3100.

The Dance Hall volunteers are working diligently and have plans to put this hall back into a functional hall, which will once again be enjoyed by many. As it was in the past.

A bridal shower for Carley McCormick was enjoyed by many at the Devlin Hall on Sunday, September 19. Carley and Brent Romyn will wed October 16.

Be sure to purchase your 50/50 ticket to be drawn October 8. This is a fundraiser for the Emo Legion Branch #99. There is Beer and Burgers this Friday night. Anyone entering any event at the Legion must show proof of vaccinations and I.D.

Robin’s 2 cents

A man asked his wife, “what would you do if I won the lottery?”

She replied, “I’d take half and leave you.”

“Great,” he said. “I won $12. Here’s $6 … stay in touch.”
