The Naicatchewenin First Nation two-day walleye-bass tournament held this past Saturday and Sunday was a big success. They had the largest amount of teams competing this year.
After the weigh-ins with the combined weights of Friday’s walleye weights and Saturday’s bass weights, Brandon Kamm and Jason Pavleck earned first place.
They had a combined weight of 24.63. The team pocketed $3,000.
This was their second win in two years.
Second place went to Bryan Hughes and Mike Wilson. They took home $1,500.
Third place was taken by Glen Ward and Doug Berry earning $1,000.
Fourth place went to Ryan Hyatt and his daughter, Isabella, pocketing $500, while fifth place went to Ralph Galusha and Tamara Robson. They earned $400.
The tournament was a well-organized two day tournament.
Delicious meals, great penny table prizes and the volunteers did a great job.

Stompin’ Taw Connors will be paying a tribute to his famous father, Stompin’ Tom Connors, on Oct. 19.
This will take place at the Emo Legion.

The Guthrie United Church will be having its always popular “Harvest Supper” on Sunday, Sept. 29 at the Devlin Hall.
The meal is served from 5-7 p.m.
Menu consists of turkey, ham, and all the trimmings. This is always a delicious meal and an evening of visiting and good old-fashioned fun.
The cost is $18 for adults, kids six-12 pay $10, and five and under eat free.

A wife asks her husband, “Could you please go shopping for me, and buy one carton of milk and if they have avocados, get six.”
A short time later the husband comes back with six milk.
The wife asks, “Why did you buy six milk?”
“They had avocados,” he replied.
