Family Day is on Monday!

This Monday (Feb 15) is Family Day, which is a holiday for many people.

Although Covid restrictions are in place here’s hoping you get to enjoy the day off and spend time with people in your bubble. Hopefully next year’s Family Day will be better.

A thank you goes out to all the hard work of the Township of LaVallee and to all volunteers that have kept up the care of the Devlin-LaVallee Community Rink. A lot of people of all ages have enjoyed it. The students from Crossroads in grade 4-8 will be enjoying the rink as part of their Physical Education programming.

The Interim taxes are due February 26. The Municipality accepts post dated cheques and e-transfers. On-line payments are available through CIBC for members of that bank. If you prefer to pay by cash contact the office and have as close to the amount of the billing as possible as no change will be provided.

A reminder that nominations for “Senior of the Year” must be in by March 31 2021.

Congratulations to Clayton Stang who was the lucky winner of $25,998.00. This was a draw from the Riverside Foundation For Health Care. Be sure to purchase your ticket for the next upcoming draw.

A huge congratulations to Brent Romyn and Carley McCormick on their recent engagement. Proud parents are Darryl and Char Romyn and Me (Robin). Carley is the daughter of the late Brian McCormick.

An “after Covid” wedding is in planning.

Sincere sympathy to Gary Beck and his family in the passing of Gary’s father Benny Beck.

Your community is thinking of you all at this sad time.

Sunday (February 14) is Valentine’s Day. Here’s wishing everyone a day of love and caring. Even if you can’t be with people important to you, give them a call, text or something to make them feel the love of this special day.

Also a happy Family Day weekend to all!

A recent article in the Daily Post reported that a husband had sued St. Paul’s Hospital saying that after his wife had surgery there, she had lost all interest in romance.

A hospital spokesman replied:

“Your wife was admitted for cataract surgery. All we did was correct her eyesight.”
