Events starting up again

Community events are starting up that have been on hold for far too long.

The Guthrie United Church will host a Spring Tea and bake sale. This takes place Saturday April 2 at the Devlin Hall. The Tea starts at 2 p.m. and goes tell 3:30. Adults admission is $5 youth 6-12 years pay $3. This promises to be an enjoyable afternoon of socializing.

There will be Beer and Burger at the Emo Legion this Friday, March 8. It will take place every second Friday. The cost for a burger and beer is $6.

There will be a 50/50 draw at the Beer and Burger on April 8. Be sure to purchase your tickets – you just might be the lucky winner.

There will be a Country Dance, March 19 at the Emo Legion, playing taped music. The admission is $5 at the door.

The Emo Legion Branch #99 will hold its elections April 7 at 7 p.m. It is hoped that a large number of members will come out and support the elections.

Volunteers are needed to work the Emo Thrift Shop on Saturday mornings from 9 a.m. to noon. Students can earn volunteer hours. Contact Carol at 275-8861 or 487-2512.

Sincere sympathy to Heather and Marvin Hatch in the passing of Heather’s Mother, Doris Herkes (Hughes). Doris lived with Heather and Marvin, however she had been in the hospital for the last while. Also sympathy to all the family and friends of Doris.

Sending best wishes to Matt and Andrea Sweigard and their two children. The family has recently sold their home in LaVallee and moved to Fort Frances.

There will be a LaVallee Council meeting this Wednesday March 9 at the Devlin Hall.

Masks and proof on vaccines required. This is the first open meeting in a long time. It would be nice to see a large group of people attending.

A reminder that March Break is next week (March 14-18).

The mounds in Stratton has snowshoeing and skiing Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Also check the Emo LaVallee Arena during March Break. Theres likely to be skating, shimmy and other fun-filled ways for kids to enjoy their March Break.

A sure sign that spring is around the corner is we turn our clocks ahead this Sunday (March 13). Or a better idea – before you go to bed Saturday night (March 12).
