Emo Legion planning many events for local residents

The Emo Legion volunteers have been busy planning and organizing events. 50/50 tickets will be available for purchase starting February 28. Tickets will be available at the Branch but people can check out the Legions FB page for more information.

There is a corn hole hole tournament this Friday, February 27. Spectators are welcome. The canteen and bar are available.

Students at Crossroads School held their own Olympics this month, taking part in playing hockey, curling and bobsledding, along with the teachers working hard to make the day “So much fun.” Student arthletes also enjoyed bannock and wild rice. The next Beer and Burger is March 6. Winners of last Fridays Beer and Burger were Lard Larson and Verla Neufeld. Meat was provided by KB Ranch. A reminder that tickets for the meat draw can be purchased in advance and one does not have to be at the Legion to win.

Sending the family and friends of Jacques Fiset sincere condolences and caring thoughts in his unexpected passing. Hoping you find comfort in knowing many people are thinking of you during this sad time.

Sending Mel Kallstrom wishes for a speedy and full recovery. Mel has been in the Fort Frances Hospital for quite some time.

Congratulations to Chelsea (Mosley) and Avery Adrian on the birth of their child Sawyer. Proud grandparents are Michelle (Mosley) and Brian Sabbe, Donna and James O’Sullivan, Krissi and Shawn Morrison and Elwyn Adrian and Shirley Scott.

A reminder that the St. Patrick’s CWL are hosting a St. Patrick’s Day supper in Emo on March 17, staring at 5:30 p.m. A roast beef dinner with all the trimmings will be served. Advance tickets only. Adults are $25, 7-12 year olds pay $15 and 6 and under eat free.

The Emo Food bank and Thrift Store will hold their annual meeting on March 2, beginning at 7 o’clock. The meeting takes place at the Christian Reformed Church.

Memberships are available at the meeting or by contacting Charlene or Frances Flook.

The World Day of Prayer takes place Friday, March 6, at the St. Patrick’s Church in Emo staring at 1:30 p.m. This year’s theme is, “I Will Give You Rest: Come.” All denominations are welcome.

The Township of La Vallee Seniors 55+ and Recreation Committee will host a turkey supper, catered by the Emo Legion and held at the Legion, as the Devlin Hall is under construction. This supper takes place Saturday, March 7, doors open at 5 p.m. with supper being served at 6 p.m. The bar will be open. Call Pat at 276-3042 or Lisa at 276-7555 to reserve.

The Emo Knox United Church at 2 Roy Street extends a warm welcome to all area churches to attend Lenten Lunches and services. A short service begins at 12 noon.

Service will convene in the sanctuary of worship, followed by soup and sandwiches in the hall at 12:30 p.m. Lunch is provided by participating denominations at the cost of $5.

Sure signs that spring is around the corner is the setting of clocks. Clocks move an hour forward on March 8. Spring Fever Days take place in Emo this year April 16-18.
