District takes part in Stuff-A-Cruiser

The annual Stuff-A-Cruiser was another huge success. The event was held Saturday December 4. This event traditionally takes place during Holy Daze in Emo.

A deserving thank you to Ron and Charlene Mctavish that have organized this event for the past seven years. Three years ago their granddaughter McKenna joined them in their efforts to fill the shelves at the Emo Food Bank. Treaty 3 Police support the food drive by supplying officers and a cruiser. Some volunteers have been helping since Ron and Charlene took over organizing seven years ago, and each year they see some new volunteers. Some high school students have earned their volunteer hours by helping out. Each year, regardless of the weather, volunteers brave the elements to collect donations outside Cloverleaf Groceries. Volunteers and the support of the community make this annual effort a huge success.

The two lucky winners of the $250.00 Emo Chamber Bucks were won by Brigette Henzmann (draw made at Kaemingh Fuels) and Pearl Pidlubny (draw made at Emo Feed)

As always a wonderful parade took place Friday evening (December 3) with a wide array of floats and the annual tree lighting.

Emergency services and volunteers were in place at grocery stores across the District, including Cloverleaf in Emo, to collect food for local food banks. The annual event traditionally takes place during Holly Daze, which took place over the weekend. – Submitted photo

Due to high winds the fireworks were not able to be held but plans are to have them displayed during Family Day 2022.

A huge thanks to all organizers and volunteers that made Holy Daze a fun place to be, perhaps appreciated more than ever due to last years Covid and not being able to take place. Looking forward to next years already!

Rainy River held its annual parade Thursday evening (December 2) There were a variety of floats along with a lion dressed in full costume displaying the hard works the active works the Lions Club does in Rainy River. Their mascot “the beaver “ also took centre stage at the parade. A shout out to all or organizers, once again our small communities are small but mighty.

A reminder that the Emo Legion will have a 50/50 draw December 17th. Be sure to buy a ticket. Support our local Legion for their many good works.

Happy 60th birthday to Charlotte Hyatt on November 29. She celebrated with a gift from her daughter Steph, by attending a Toronto Maple Leafs and Winnipeg Jets game. Sadly her faves the Leafs lost 6-3. However Charlotte loved the game and time with her daughter. May you enjoy many more years of hockey games and time with family.

Robin’s 2 cents

My kids chose having each and every gift wrapped instead of in gift bags. My following 2 cents pretty well wraps up how I feel about that!

Me, wrapping the first gift: “Ohhh pretty paper! I just love this time of year Fa la la la la!”

Me, wrapping the 27th gift: “You people don’t deserve a bow!”
