The official grand opening of the newly renovated Devlin Hall takes place Wednesday, August 26. The opening starts at 5 p.m. with a complimentary light meal. A cash bar will be available. Provided by the Emo Legion. Music will be provided by Melanie Williams from 6-9 p.m.
Be sure to come out and see the beautiful hall that has underdone many changes. Visit with friends and family and truly enjoy this long awaited event.
August 13, 14 and 15 is the 2026 Rainy River District Fall Fair. There truly is something for everyone to enjoy. This is the 126th year of the fair. Thanks to the Fair Board for their dedication and hard work that they do throughout the year.
Be sure to check out the animal barns, exhibition hall, arena and enjoy the vast variety of things to do.
NFN (Naicatchewenin First Nation) are holding their Fall Bass and Walleye Classic on September 11 and 12. The cost to enter is $400 per team. Entry fees can be sent to NFN-FBWC@outlook.com. The take off order is based on first paid, first in basis. All entries are non refundable. If more information is required call the band office at 486-3407.
The Dance Hall fundraising committee and volunteers are hosting a walleye fish fry on Sunday, August 30, from 4-6 p.m. Walleye, salads, baked beans and all the fixings will be served. Adult meals are $25, kids 7-12 years pay $15 and kids 6 and under eat free. All funds raised will help pay for future renovations to the Dance Hall. Advance tickets are available at Devlin’s Store, Cloverleaf Grocers, and General Supply. Tickets will also be available at the door.
Congratulations to Mike Badiuk and Jared Baker on their first place win in the Stanji First Nation bass tournament held on Saturday, August 8, with Badiuk and Baker’s two day total weight totalling 37.81 pounds.
Congratulations to Emily Mosbeck on being the lucky winner of the July Riverside 50/50 draw. Emily pocketed $16,325.
Happy 80th birthday to Reg Johnson. Reg reached this milestone birthday on August 5. Reg celebrated his birthday with family. The community sends Reg wishes for many years of health and happiness.

My wife and I walked into our favourite little beer joint after a long day, looking forward to relaxing for a while.
The bartender greeted us with a smile and asked what we’d like to drink.
As he polished a glass, he looked at me and joked, “Would you like a beer for your wife?”
Without missing a beat, I grinned and replied, “That sounds like a fair swap to me.”
The bartender burst out laughing…
My wife just folded her arms and gave me that look.
