“Tis The Season” our community and district is abounding with events.
The Township of LaVallee held its annual Community Christmas Party on Sunday (December 9) with about 80 people attending. Fun was had by all, from children to seniors. I’ve heard the food was delicious and the children were happy with a visit from Santa and their gift bags of candy.
Lucille MacDonald – the newly elected Reeve – shared how appreciative she was to Charlene Mctavish for organizing and preparing the food and filling all the candy bags. Charlene shared with me that her husband Ron was right in with her in the kitchen, peeling potatoes and doing whatever needed to be done. Also thanks to Santa for stopping by and visiting with the kids. June Benjamin was recognized for her many, many years she has volunteered to organize this annual event. June was named Senior of the Year in 2014. A well deserved award. June has recently moved to Fort Frances and our community will never forget your contribution to our community.
Six Empey sisters along with Hannah Westen entertained a group of St. Patrick’s Catholic Women’s League members, along with Father Thomas last Tuesday, December 6. Their music was truly appreciated as they sang Christmas carols, with all attending joining in.
The Sturgeon Creek school held very enjoyable Christmas concert last Friday, December 9. Lots of laughs and some heartfelt songs, sung by a group of students. Many concerts to follow this week. It’s nice to see people from throughout the district attending each and every concert.
Congratulations to Anne and Jason Donaldson on the birth of their baby, Luke Robert was born November 21. Happy grandparents are Lee and Leanne Donaldson from Burriss and Robert and Kathy Dieterle from London, Ontario. Big brother Ian is very happy too!
