Taylor McQuaker was honoured with a bridal shower on April 26. The shower took place at the Emo Legion and was well attended by family and friends. Taylor and Cole Sandelovich will wed on June 27, 2026. The proud parents are Rachel and Shane McQuaker and Jimmy and Nicki Sandelovich.
Last week’s meat draw held during beer-and-burger night at the Legion was won by Brenda McMahon and Karen Bombay.
There will be a Mother’s Day cornhole tournament this Friday, May 8, at the Emo Legion. All spots are filled, but spectators are welcome.
Cribbage is held every Wednesday night at the Emo Legion, and carpet bowling is followed by a luncheon every Thursday.
Sunset Country Métis Council will host an evening featuring Brandi Vezina on her Highway & Wildflower Tour on Saturday, May 9, at the Sunset Country Metis Community Hall, 714 Armit Avenue, Fort Frances. Entertainment starts at 7 p.m. This event is free for all ages. Brandi and her band performed last year at the Métis Hall, and all those attending thoroughly enjoyed her performance.
The La Vallee Seniors committee is hosting a paint class on May 28. This event takes place at the La Vallee Township office starting at 1 p.m. Cherie Serano will be teaching the class. Call Pat at 276-3042 or Lisa at 276-7555 to register.
The Emo Legion will host a dance featuring live music. The band Throwback will be performing everyone’s favourite hits. The dance takes place on Saturday, June 20, from 9:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Age of majority is required.
