Castin’ for Cash set to go

The always popular “Castin’ For Cash” takes place July 8 and 9 this year.

Bill and Nell Godin — proprietors of Lake Despair — along with volunteers, work hard to make sure this is always a successful tournament.

There are likely to be about 50 teams competing for the top weight. There are still spots open for anglers wishing to sign up. Teams from Kenora and the U.S. will be taking part.

There will be food available at the pavilion both days.

Weigh-ins are at 4 p.m. both days.

Come out, cheer on your favourite team and enjoy the tournament.

Congratulations to Vaughan Wilson and Destiny on their marriage. The couple were wed February 2 at a private ceremony and then a traditional ceremony was held at Manitou Mounds on Saturday, June 25. A reception followed at the Barwick Hall for family and friends.

Proud parents are Ken Wilson and Betty Wilson and Susan Kelly and Ellis Cowley. The District wishes you much happiness in your married life.

The Emo Museum is opening for the summer on Monday July 4. The hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday. Admission is a free will donation. The Museum is located on Tyrell Street in Emo.

There will be a Pioneer Museum “Summer Opening Pie Social” on July 8 from noon to 3 p.m. Coffee and pie is $6. All proceeds go to the Rainy River District Women’s Institute Museum.

Come out and enjoy a dessert, coffee and day of socializing!
