Ella Jewell is looking forward to this Saturday (Nov. 24) as she will be celebrating her 90th birthday. A party is planned at Knox United in Emo between 2-4 p.m.
She still drives her automobile and is able to get around without a hitch.
Speaking of birthdays, Ashley Beaushene of Nestor Falls, daughter of Dave and Michelle (nee Melanson), just turned 16.
Ashley is an ‘A’ student at Fort Frances High School, and also is very helpful in her parents’ business.
Grandpa Paul and Grandma Margaret Melanson spent the weekend at the Beaushene residence this past weekend helping their granddaughter celebrate her special day.

Crafts will be available at the Little Centennial House in Emo (next to former post office) this Friday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and again Saturday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Proceeds to go towards new playground equipment for the children at the Sturgeon Creek Alternative Program (SCAP).
The Emo Toy Library and Lending Resource Centre will be having a bake sale at the Little House this Saturday (Nov. 24) from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Anyone wishing to donate baking is asked to bring it to the centre by Friday.

Speaking with ETL co-ordinator Josette Vargas about Santa, she was thinking of not having one at the centre this year because there are so many of them around town during December.
She said she’ll what others think about the idea.
Ron and Joyce McQuaker motored to Thunder Bay on Sunday to attend their son’s wedding, which was held yesterday (Nov. 20).
We extend our deepest sympathy to the families of Billy Brigham, who passed away in Winnipeg. Funeral services were held at Knox United Church in Emo last Wednesday (Nov. 14), with Rev. Frances Flook officiating.
I had the opportunity to speak with Billy when he made trips here for a visit with relatives. He was employed with Canada Post in Toronto and Winnipeg, retiring at the latter location.
Billy was a cheerful gentleman, always willing to get into a conversation and catch up on late news.
Cribbage winners at the Emo Legion last Wednesday (Nov. 14) were Darlyne Bruce and Gerry Allen (high), with consolations to Donna Morrish and Adelia Guba.
Connie Hill won the door prize.
A reminder the next Bingo at the Emo Legion is slated Thursday, Nov. 29. Doors open at 6 p.m., with the first game at 7.

This past Sunday, Phil Fritschle of New Brighton, Mn. was the pulpit guest speaker for both services at the Christian Reformed Church in Emo. His sermon topics were entitled, “Forgiveness” and “Tulip.”
Coffee fellowship followed in the hall.
Rev. Rony Schweitzer of Winnipeg will be the pulpit guest speaker at the CRC for both services this Sunday (Nov. 25).
The Emo Centennial Choir will practice this Sunday (Nov. 25) at 2:30 p.m. at the Christian Reformed Church instead of Monday, Nov. 26.
