With May coming to an end, I was extremely happy to be back in the Fort Frances area for the annual Manitou Rapids fish fry.
It was a beautiful day, and I want to thank everyone who came out to participate in this spectacular event.
It always is great to have the chance to get out into the riding and meet with as many people as possible.
It was wonderful to see so many people coming out to celebrate our communities, our beautiful area, and the Northwestern Ontario way of life.
Thank you so much to everyone from Rainy River First Nations who opened up the Manitou Rapids pow-wow grounds to us—you were excellent hosts! All of your hard work made the fish fry such a success.
I also was glad to stop by some of the local business to talk with entrepreneurs who are working to make Fort Frances a thriving community.
I also wanted to take a moment to congratulate the Fort Frances Lakers, who are the SIJHL champs for the third-straight year! It is great to see our passion and talent for hockey in Northwestern Ontario continue with each generation.
Be proud of your accomplishment and I look forward to seeing you hit the ice next season.
Thank you to everyone whom I had a chance to meet with this month in the Fort Frances/Rainy River area. I am proud to be working for you, representing your concerns in Ottawa, and I’m looking forward to being back soon.
This summer, my office will be hosting a number of town-hall meetings in the region.
I encourage community members to come out and provide us with valuable input as we work towards making real change in Canada.
