A survey, which was available to the public to fill out during Library Week at the Emo Public Library last month, found that 98 percent approved expansion needs.
An open house, with free draws, balloons, and cookies/coffee, also was held in conjunction with Library Week. Prize winners included Bernice Campbell, Mary Soucy, Ted Burgoyne, Nick Schryvershof, Taylor McQuaker, and Lisa Teeple.
The EPL thanks all its patrons for attending the open house.

We extend our condolences to the families of Adele Meyers, whose funeral was held last Tuesday afternoon at the Christian Reformed Church in Emo. Eileen Bragg of St. George’s Anglican Church officiated.
Daughter-in-law, Lucinda Meyers, read a poem while son-in-law, Geoff Pearce, gave the commendation address. Organist Marina Gerber led the congregation in the following hymns, “Amazing Grace,” “Showers of Blessing,” and “When All My Labors and Trials are Over.”
I, myself, have known the family since 1948. We at one time lived over the laundromat—the Meyers family in the north-end apartment and the Gubas in the south-end one. Our children played together, and there are special memories for us about the Meyers (Adele, Gordon, Grant, and Kim).
Adele was a soft-spoken woman who loved her family, especially the five grandchildren, and was an outdoors person, spending most of her summers at their Off Lake cabins.
The Wycliffe Theatre recently came to Barwick for a dinner and drama presentation, “Ancient Splendor,” about the Wycliffe Bible translators.
The story offered a historic look at the manifestation of the Word whether spoken by God, personified in Jesus, or written in the form of the Holy Scripture.
Framed by a contemporary love story of two translators, the script moves back into the past to examine the high cost Christians have paid across the centuries to ensure others have access to the Word.
The Wheels to Meals schedule for November is as follows: carpet bowling, lunch, and card playing tomorrow (Nov. 8), show and tell (bring along a sample of the craft work or whatever you do to relax) on Nov. 22, and exercise Nov. 29.
A reminder Wheels to Meals is cancelled Nov. 15 since the Legion is booked.
The potluck windup is slated Dec. 6, with carpet bowling to be held prior to lunch. Wheels to Meals will start a new schedule for the winter months Jan. 11.
A carpet bowling tournament is slated for Jan. 18.
Our Lady of the Way School raffle prize of a handmade quilt, sponsored by the school council, will be drawn Dec. 19. Tickets cost $1 each.
This would make an excellent Christmas gift for someone.
Legion Br. #99 at Emo presents “Crafts Galore” there Nov. 23-24. All the tables are full, and soup/sandwiches and coffee/doughnuts will be available. at the Hall.
This Saturday (Nov. 10) is the second-annual Celebrate Jesus Day in Rainy River. Activities at recreation centre there will include children singing, special music, prayer walks, testimonies, worship time, and much more.

Most of us missed the smiling face and courteous approach of Ann Edwards at Cloverleaf while she was gone for roughly three-four weeks.
By the time I enquired about her, she was back at the front desk, serving customers with a little pain. She had surgery but is looking herself, pleasant as ever.
Nice to have you back in time for the Christmas season when we need clerks with a passion for their customers.

Remembrance Day services by Legion Br. #99 at Emo will begin with a church service at 10 a.m. Cenotaph services will follow at Barwick (11 a.m.), Stratton (11:45 a.m.), Devlin (2 p.m.), and Emo (2:45 p.m.)
The annual banquet will take place back at the Emo Legion at 6 p.m. Tickets cost $10 for adults and $5 for children aged 12 and under.
The monthly cribbage and 500 party played Saturday at the Emo Legion in Emo saw Mervin Hyatt and Ron McQuaker win the high in cribbage while Kay Bragg and Lara Lougheed were low.
In 500, Nellie McCulloch and Loraine Bullied got the high, with low to Emma and Bob McLean. Elder Jack won the door prize.
A reminder the Betty Kellar Memorial Crib and 500 tournament is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 1 at the Emo Legion.
The next Bingo at the Legion will be held Thursday, Nov. 29. Doors open 6 p.m., with the first game at 7. Everyone is welcome.
I had the opportunity to talk with former DYS principal Nancy Fretter at the Emo Inn this past week about her health. Unfortunately, she said she’s still not back to work yet due to complications from a two-vehicle accident last school year.
