Joan McGibbon, co-ordinator of the Emo Toy Library and Resource Centre, said it was with regret that they said goodbye to Josette Vargas, who served as assistant co-ordinator and co-ordinator of the ETL over the past 12 years.
ETL is pleased to announce April Siemens is the new assistant co-ordinator. April is quite excited to being her new duties because she loves to work with children.
A reminder the centre will be closed this Thursday and Friday (May 30-31) as both Joan and April will be attending a workshop in Thunder Bay.
The Emo Figure Skating Club recently met to elect a new executive, with Patty McNally being chosen as president (482-1072), Jodi Boisvert as vice-president, Nancy Wilson as secretary, and Sandy Drennan as treasurer.
Rounding out the executive are Lisa and Sean Latimer (test chairs); Jenny Krause (Skate Can rep), Becky Steele (mini-blade rep), Mary Croswell (CanSkate rep), Donna Hyatt (ice show chair), and Dianne Nordstrom (costume co-ordinator).
The past president and pro coach remains as Jose Potvin.
McNally reminds everyone the club will hold a continental breakfast on Friday and Saturday from 6:30-9 a.m. at Lions Park in conjuction with the Emo Walleye Classic.

Cribbage winners at the Emo Legion last Wednesday (May 22) were Darlyne Bruce and Gerry Allen (high), with consolations to Marian Larson and Larry Kellar.
Larry Kellar also won the door prize.
“Active-A-Thon,” sponsored by the Healthy Communities Coalition and Chapple Recreation, is slated this Saturday (June 1) in Barwick. Those interested can register at the municipal office from noon-4 p.m.
Rain date is Sunday, June 2.
The four-mile route goes from the Barwick municipal lot one mile north, then west to the church, south to the highway, and then back to the municipal lot, noted Heather Oltsher.
All are welcome, young and old, whether you walk, bike, pull a wagon, etc. There also is a route for roller-blades (three times around town). Again, you must register at the municipal office lot.
Free juice and water will be available.

Val (Larry) Kellar and Russ (Dianne) Nordstrom attended funeral services for Jennie Nordstrom last Tuesday (May 21) at the Sprague Community Hall.
Her grandsons were pallbearers, including Russ Nordstrom from here.
Jennie, who passed away at age 90 at Steinbach Bethesda Place with family at her side, was the mother of former Emo residents Clarence (Fern) Nordstrom.
She had three daughters and three sons, 23 grandchildren, and 40 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind four great-great-grandchildren, four sisters-in-laws, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Gordon Meyers is now at La Verendrye hospital. I visited with Gordon this past week and he said he enjoys visitors. Although not up and around, he’s showing improvement, but it still will be some time before he’s released.
Meanwhile, Art Bonot requires an appointment with specialists in Winnipeg on June 3. We dearly miss him at our Emo Inn coffee breaks.
Talking with family members of Shirley Allan, she is coming along satisfactory though still requiring a few treatments.
Mark Hyatt, having had his surgery, was back at the council meeting at Barwick while Katharina Leek is hospitalized at La Verendrye.
Speaking with waterbomber pilot Vince Sheppard, his aircraft has arrived at Dryden and is ready when called upon to fight fires.
“We are lucky here that it’s been cold and wet weather so far. It has kept the risk of fires low,” he noted, though adding they’re ready as soon as called.
The Ericksons from Minnesota are here visiting with old friends they knew before moving away. They were welcomed at the morning worship at the Christian Reformed Church this past Sunday.
Mr. Erickson started up the carving club that’s still going strong under the direction of Steve Latimer.
There was another birthday for the coffee boys last Friday, this time around for Neil Grant. He was greeted with a birthday cake and the “Happy Birthday” song, which was fine-tuned by the gals at the Emo Inn.
All the coffee gang was on hand except Art Bonot.
As Monday was Memorial Day in the U.S., Adelia and I attended services at the Williams Congregational Church in Williams, Mn., officiated by Rev. Rosanna Walker.
Adelia’s cousin, Les Nelson, read the roll call of departed veterans, which included Adelia’s grandfather, Geo Hartnell (a corporal in the U.S. Army during World War I), her brother, George Henry Nelson (ATC U.S. Air Force in, Korea), brothers, Glen Nelson (PFC Artillery in Vietnam) and Dale Nelson (Sgt. Btry. B1 in Vietnam), and Uncle Marvin Willard Nelson (U.S. Army).
Roll call of departed auxiliary members included Adelia’s grandmother, Grace Hartnell.
Dinner was served following the program, and grave sites at Williams Pine Hill, Williams Catholic, Graceton, and Potamo were visited.
