Chapple looking for committee members

Are you interested in getting involved in your community? Then be a committee member.

The Township of Chapple is looking for members to sit on a committee that would put together an emergency plan for their township and one that would determine a long-term goal for the R.V. park.

If you are interested in either committee, or would like more information, contact the Chapple municipal office at 487-2354.

The Emmanuel Christian Academy in Fort Frances, located at the Calvary Tabernacle on Butler Avenue there, for the past 10 years has been providing a Christ-centered education of academic excellence so students can reach their God-given potential.

The school’s format of individual learning centres allows students to work at their own pace while low student-teacher ratios offer greater attention to individual needs.

Emmanuel’s principal, Mrs. Fay Edwards, is willing to help students after hours to master any troublesome areas at an hourly rate.

For an appointment or more info, contact Edwards at 274-3963 or by e-mail at caltab@ff.lakeheadu.ca

Terry Pruitt makes the trip up to the Barwick area from Oklahoma every year for a vacation. The diminutive lady with a soft southern drawl likes roughing it here, and while here she usually attends Barwick Community Church and visits with local friends.

She used to bring her Arabian horses to show at the annual fall fair in Emo until a couple of years ago. “Times are not like they were back then [when I was] younger and energetic,” she noted.

This trip she had friends along for company, visiting with Mrs. Gladys McLean at Stratton, me and my wife, Adelia, here in Emo, and others whom she had become acquainted with while here.

Mark VanHeyst, one of our “coffee break” boys at the Emo Inn, celebrated another birthday. On hand to extend best wishes were Ralph Wolframe, Neil Grant, Len Jordens, and myself.

Paul Melanson and Art Bonot, both on the sick list, could not make the occasion. Paul, at home, will visit a specialist in Winnipeg this coming Thursday while Art remains hospitalized at Emo.

We all wish both gentlemen better health in the coming weeks.
