Spring definitely in the air these days

The longer daylight hours and the sun shining certainly makes us all feel good!
I really love the cooler nights and sunny days-it makes for a bit less mud in the yard. Mind you, my dad hauled in some hay for me the other day and it created a “soupy mess.”
Luckily, “Roxee” is such a princess that she doesn’t really like getting dirty so she does her best to walk around anything too wet.

Maddie was off to Winnipeg with her mom and dad to play in the Stars Cup over the weekend while Marlee was able to spend one night with us before heading off to Thunder Bay for hockey.
She decided we should tackle making hockey cards for her and Maddie. It seemed like a simple project–until she wanted to get “fancy!”
She thought it would be a good idea to list her favourite NHL players. Of course, they all are from the Boston Bruins and most of them I couldn’t spell, so she then thought she would ask Siri how to spell them.
Alas, she and Siri ended up getting into a fight because she thinks Siri always is “sassy” with her.
She asked, “Siri, why are you always so sassy with me?” And Siri responded, “Louise, I am just being myself.”
So Louise might be in the bad books with Siri now, as well, since Marlee was using her phone.

This week is March Break in Manitoba so my vet cousin’s kids are here for the week. On Saturday, Charlie decided to come and hang out with me as long as I took her back home to grandma’s to sleep.
Charlie is a very sharp little girl, with maybe a little bit of a “Sassy Siri” attitude. Lots of questions and lots of “I told you, Kimmie Jo!”
On Friday, Clayton and I might have to look after the three of them for a bit before their mom makes it in from Manitoba and she was telling Clayton, “Ya know, it is going to be a lot of work, Clayton, looking after three kids!”
We will see if we can handle it.

There are lots of exciting events coming up! This Saturday (April 1) is our Ag Day at the Emo Legion.
Just a quick reminder to let us know if you’re attending so we can book lunch!
You won’t want to skip out early, either, as we have some great door prizes but you must be on hand to win!
Join us anytime after 9 a.m. for coffee, but the program doesn’t officially start until 9:45 a.m.
Our committee is looking forward to it; we think it is going to be a great day!

A “staff training day” is planned for Saturday, April 8 at 1 p.m. at the Stratton sales barn, when we are planning to walk through the process of receiving, penning, and selling cattle.
We are working hard to have a great facility that people are proud to sell their cattle at. We rely on our staff to help improve all areas of the process, and thought this was a great way to go over our procedures and make improvements.
When we have a sale going on, we just don’t have the time to do such a thing.
We also have ordered a few new pieces of equipment that we think are going to improve some areas of barn.
We will end the day with pizza and pop for everyone around 3:30 p.m.
Please be sure to let James or Kimmie know if you are attending!
