Christmas coming much too fast

Well, we’ve turned the calendar page to December–oh no!
I really need to put my thinking cap on and start making a list of what I should be looking to buy for my family and friends.
That is the difficult part for me–I’m not a shopper. It is one thing if you walk into a store and know exactly what you want. But wandering around waiting for something to jump out at you just isn’t my thing!
On the bright side, I finally finished my outdoor lights Saturday! That’s my favourite part of Christmas–the lights and decorations (oh, and the food, of course).
Mind you, I haven’t put up any of my inside decorations yet; I was too busy finishing my outside stuff!
I have been keeping my eye on a nice tree that will look great in my newly-painted and re-organized living room! I spotted one close to Thunder Bay that I really liked, as well, but no one wants to drive down there with me to cut it!

Saturday night was our annual seafood night—and once again it was absolutely delicious.
For us red meat-eaters, seafood is a real treat and quite a change. The food was great, but the visiting and catching up with everyone is a real highlight.
Everyone is so busy that we have little chance to just sit around and talk.

My mom and dad were in Kenora with Maddie and Marlee at their first hockey tournament over the weekend.
The girls were quite impressed with participating in their first tournament, and Grandma and Grandpa were so proud of how hard they played.
I think it might take my dad all week now to rest up as it was a very busy weekend!

I finally finished cleaning all the seed here at the Emo Agricultural Research Station last Friday (I’ve never been so late with finishing that task).
I am hoping to have all the research summaries finished and printed this week.

A reminder the Rainy River Soil and Crop Improvement Association is hosting its annual meeting today (Dec. 4) at 7 p.m. at the Emo Legion.
They have an excellent line-up of speakers so take the time to attend.
Unfortunately, I am out of town this week so I won’t be able to give you a research update (please watch for our research summaries next week at Emo Feed).

I hope to see everyone at “Holly Daze” in Emo this weekend.
I need to get the four-wheeler and trailer all decorated up before I leave town this week so that when I get home, it is all ready to go!
Maddie and Marlee are all ready for the parade, which goes Friday starting at 6 p.m.
Looks like it might be a cool evening but the parade last year was fantastic so come on down to Emo for the festivities!
