Calgary conference jam packed

I have been watching many of my friends deal with heavy snow thinking; “wow can’t believe we have missed that!” Our turn has arrived. I was planning to be at the Station this week, but I haven’t made it there today. I have shoveled off the step twice now and had a great workout doing chores this morning. I am now thinking I should have worked later last night and finished my outdoor lights because it is going to be deep today! I am feeling slightly overwhelmed with my list and lack of Christmas gifts. It doesn’t sound like there is any sense of ordering anything because shipping is a huge issue.

I had a good trip to Calgary and our meeting was jam packed. We ran out of time, so we didn’t even finish all the agenda items. It is a nice group of people to work with, but their ranching life-style is so different than that of ours. Most are large enough operations they don’t work off the ranch, so they pay little attention to dates and time. Many live very remotely so attending meetings like this is a big journey! It is hard when they have young families because they are often many miles from a school or even if they have a school, they can’t be sure they can be home to meet a bus. I think we are remote, but it is a different level.

I was happy to get home and head to the Emo Holly Daze Parade and help serve hot chocolate, cookies and collect items for the Food Bank. They certainly had great weather for their event! The parade was awesome, and the fireworks committee did a remarkable job!

It looks like the weather is going to dip low here by mid-week but then pick up for the weekend. That is good because I need to get my cows all home and vaccinate / deworm. I should have been better prepared and completed that task this past Saturday because the weather was incredible. That is what happens when you are travelling all over the place; it runs into work. I keep thinking that is what my grandma would have been telling me anyway. We will get it done. The cows might come home a bit better now if this snow filled in some of the rough, wet ground. I guess I can hope anyway.
