You know it is just amazing how many emails I get from people I haven’t written to
They offer all kinds of goods and services that I’m not even interested in. Isn’t it amazing.
Of particular interest are the charities I support. People like Canadian Red Cross CNIB and Leprosy foundations all do amazing work and I gratefully support their efforts. The mystery is that as soon as I send them some support and they send me a reply thanking me for my support plus my tax deductible receipt, within days there will be a request for additional support. I’m not saying they’re crooked maybe just a little opportunistic. It’s kind of like giving your kids five bucks and then having them show up a couple of hours later asking for another five bucks.
So how do you get unsubscribed from the list? After all the gift of the self-addressed stickers that you can put on your outgoing mail; how many of them can you use? I’ve already got stacks of them. And let’s face it nobody uses the post anymore.
I’ve tried unsubscribing by hitting the unsubscribe button in my email and I am assured that I will be taken off the list but it may take five days. Five days seems to turn into 50 or 500. You never seem to get removed from the list.
Recently I had another experience with donors asking for money and support however it did not come to me. It came to my late wife Norma the Pearl of the Orient.
The party in question thanked Norma for all her past and continuing support. This was a bit of a mystery to me as I never knew Norma supported that party ever. But they assured me that how thankful they were for her ongoing support and communication. Perhaps they could even send her a mail in ballot for the upcoming federal election.
We recently interred Norma’s ashes at Saint John Cemetery in Cayuga Ontario. From the tone of their letter it was apparent that they had been in close communication with her on political matters till just days ago. That’s strange since she passed away about a year ago. However, If they are communicating with her they are more powerful than I thought.
I have been trying to communicate with her and she’s not answering so could you please pass on a message for me. Tell her that I miss her very much.
And also ask her if she could send me a message as to where my extra pair of eyeglasses are. I simply cannot find them.
