The Rainy River Valley Agricultural Society is meeting today (Jan. 3) at 7 p.m. at the Emo Curling Club to discuss a proposal to sell a lot of land to Emo Township. Interested members of the fair board are invited to attend.
The 32-annual La Place Rendez-Vous Open, hosted by the Sunset Country Squash Club and featuring a full slate of 66 participants in men’s women’s, and junior divisions, will run this Friday to Sunday (Jan. 4-6) at the Memorial Sports Centre courts. Spectators welcome.
The Muskie girls’ hockey team will host the Dryden Eagles in NorWOSSA action on Tuesday, Jan. 8 at 7 p.m. at the Ice For Kids Arena. Admission is $7 for adults and $2 for youths aged 13-18, with those 12 and under being free.
The Fort Frances Lakers will host the Dryden GM Ice Dogs in SIJHL action on Friday, Jan. 11 at 7:30 p.m. at the Ice For Kids Arena. Admission is $12 for adults, $8 for students, and $5 for kids 12 and under, with those under five being free.
The “Fibre Arts Festival,” a juried show featuring the work of local fibre artists, will be on display in the small gallery upstairs at the Fort Frances Museum starting in mid-January. The deadline to submit a piece is Jan. 15. Call 274-7891 for more info.

The annual “Forget Me Not” dinner, hosted by the Alzheimer Society of Kenora/Rainy River Districts, will be held Saturday, Feb. 2 at La Place Rendez-Vous, with cocktails at 5:30 p.m. and dinner at 6.
