Piano adjudicator Jane Duerksen will be conducting a workshop, entitled “Tips for a polished performance,” tomorrow (April 20) at 11 a.m. at the Townshend Theatre. Admission is free and the workshop is open to everyone!
The La Vallee Fire & Emergency Service will hold its second-annual spaghetti dinner fundraiser on Saturday, April 21 from 4:30-7 p.m. at the Devlin Hall. Advance tickets available for $10 each from any La Vallee firefighter, as well as at the municipal office. Tickets will be sold at the door for $12.
Knox United Church is hosting a performance by the Winnipeg Male Chorus on Sunday, April 22 at 2 p.m. The repertoire includes movie themes, songs of the sea and land, ballads, rock and roll, songs of faith, and classical numbers. Former Fort Frances resident Jack Cameron is a member of the 40-voice choir celebrating its 60th anniversary. Admission is a free-will offering in support of the Knox Renewal Fund.
The Fort Frances Minor Hockey Association will hold its annual Awards Night on Sunday, April 22 at the Memorial Sports Centre auditorium. The IP and Novice are at 5:30 p.m., followed by Atom, PeeWee, Bantam, and Midget at 6:30 p.m. No admission charge and players’ supper provided.
Town council will hold its next regular meeting Monday, April 23 at the Civic Centre. It will follow the committee of the whole meeting, which gets underway at 5:30 p.m.
The Fort Frances Minor Hockey Association will hold its annual general meeting on Tuesday, April 24 at 7 p.m. in the Ice For Kids conference room. Everyone is encouraged to attend.

The annual Business & Community Expo, organized by the Fort Frances Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by Tbaytel, will run Friday, April 27 from 4-9 p.m. and again Saturday, April 28 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Fort Frances Curling Club.
The Rainy River Cattlemen’s Association will hold its spring cattle sale on Saturday, April 28 at 8:30 a.m. at the Stratton sales barn. A Mother’s Day luncheon and pie/dessert sale will be held Saturday, May 5 from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at McMillan Hall (Knox United Church). Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children aged seven and up, and $2 for kids aged six and under.
“Hearing voices that are distressing,” a free three-hour interactive workshop, will be held Monday, May 7 from 9 a.m.-noon and again from 1-4 p.m. at the NCDS office at 304 Scott St. (participants only attend one session and this workshop is not recommended for people who hear voices).
