The Rainy River Valley “Gold Rush Gala,” a fundraiser for the Rainy River Valley Agricultural Society, will be held Saturday, April 14 at the Emo Arena. Cocktails are at 5:30 p.m., followed by a barbecued beef dinner at 6:30 p.m. There also will be prizes, penny tables, a live auction, and the Great Cake Roulette. Tickets cost $50 each (includes a $25 charitable donation), which are available from Emo Fair board members. The Fort Frances Choraliers will perform the Easter cantata, “Redeemed by the Blood of the Lamb,” on Sunday, April 15 at 3 p.m. at the New Beginnings Fellowship. An encore performance will take place Sunday, April 22 at 3 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church in International Falls. Admission is a free-will offering.

The La Vallee Fire & Emergency Service will hold its second-annual spaghetti dinner fundraiser on Saturday, April 21 from 4:30-7 p.m. at the Devlin Hall. Advance tickets available for $10 each from any La Vallee firefighter, as well as at the municipal office. Tickets will be sold at the door for $12.
Knox United Church is hosting a performance by the Winnipeg Male Chorus on Sunday, April 22 at 2 p.m. The repertoire includes movie themes, songs of the sea and land, ballads, rock and roll, songs of faith, and classical numbers. Former Fort Frances resident Jack Cameron is a member of the 40-voice choir celebrating its 60th anniversary. Admission is a free-will offering in support of the Knox Renewal Fund.
The Fort Frances Minor Hockey Association will hold its annual Awards Night on Sunday, April 22 at the Memorial Sports Centre auditorium. The IP and Novice are at 5:30 p.m., followed by Atom, PeeWee, Bantam, and Midget at 6:30 p.m. No admission charge and players’ supper provided.
