Tryouts for the Muskie girls’ hockey team will be held Tuesday, Sept. 5 from 5:45-7:15 p.m. and again Sept. 6-8 from 3:45-5:15 p.m. Registration is on Sept. 5 from 4:30-5:45 p.m., with the tryout fee being $50.

The Fort Frances Badminton Club is holding registration for the 2017-18 season. Two local authors will visit the Fort Frances Public Library at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 14. Current resident Dawnelee Wright will talk about her memoir, “A Better Sense of Self,” while former resident J. William Galbraith will speak on his non-fiction book about former Governor General John Buchan. Signed copies of books will be available. This free event is sponsored by the “Friends of the Library.”
The Rainy Lake 150 concert series, being held at the Rainy Lake Square and sponsored by Tbaytel and “Ontario 150,” will feature Little Miss Higgins (Sept. 14), Northern Artists Night (Sept. 21), and the Daylin James Elvis Show (Sept. 28). All concerts start at 6 p.m., with admission being free.
