The Fort Frances Sports Hall of Fame will hold its 2019 induction banquet on Saturday, Aug. 10 at La Place Rendez-Vous. Tickets now on sale at Taggs Source for Sports for $40 each. Tickets will not be sold at door.
Stock car racing action, including the “Candyman,” goes Saturday, Aug. 10 at the Emo Speedway, with hot laps at 7 p.m. and the first heat at 7:30 (weather permitting). Admission is $12 for adults and $8 for students/seniors, with those nine and under being free.
The Rainy Lake Community Orchestra is holding a “Summer String Camp” for string players of all ages and abilities. Practices will be held at the Ranier Community Building beginning on Sunday, Aug. 11. Registration is not required. The Rainy Lake Sinfonia (youth and less experienced players) will rehearse from 4-5 p.m. each day, Sunday through Thursday. Town council will hold its next regular meeting on Monday, Aug. 12 at the Civic Centre. It will follow the committee of the whole meeting, which gets underway at 5:30 p.m.

The Campaign to Save the Boundary Waters will make a presentation on the threat of copper mining to Canadian waters on Wednesday, Aug. 14 from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Fort Frances Public Library.

The Fort Frances Curling Club will hold a brief membership meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 28 at 6:30 p.m. upstairs at the curling club. Amendments to bylaws will be discussed, followed by a vote.
