The annual “Walk for Alzheimer’s,” hosted by the Alzheimer Society of Kenora-Rainy River Districts, is coming up here Saturday, June 16. Registration begins at 10 a.m. at the Sorting Gap Marina, with a welcome and warm-up to follow at 11 a.m., after which time the walk will begin. After working up an appetite, walkers can meet back at the Sorting Gap Marina and enjoy a free barbecued lunch. There also will prizes awarded for the top individual and team fundraisers.

A community forum on understanding provincial budget cuts will be held on Tuesday, June 18 starting at 6:30 p.m. in Council Chambers at the Civic Centre. Community members will hear from service providers–Fort Frances Public Library, Northwest Community Legal Clinic, Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation, Rainy River DSSAB, and CMHA Fort Frances branch–about the potential local impacts of funding cuts and be able to ask questions and provide input. The Lions Legacy Golf Tournament, presented by the Fort Frances Lions Club and the Fort Frances Voyageurs Lions Club, will be held on Saturday, June 22 starting at 10 a.m. at the Heron Landing (Couchiching).
