The Cruiser of Hope will be at the Fort Frances Walmart, February 17, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The drive is in partnership with Grand Council Treaty #3, and Treaty Three Police Service, to support the Spirit of Hope Project. All donations are welcome, to help families live a life free of violence. Suggested items include children’s clothing, books, hygiene products, toys, women’s clothing, undergarments, laundry products, household itms, dishes, cookware, towels and bedding. The fireworks originally scheduled for Holly Daze are set to fly on Friday, February 18 (Family Day weekend) at 7 pm on Front Street in Emo, thanks to a partnership between the Township of Emo, NewGold, and the Emo Chamber of Commerce.

A full week of family fun is coming to town February 19-27! The first annual Drill and Chill ice fishing tournament has partnered with local organizations to create several fun activities, to beat back the winter blues!

  • The first annual Drill and Chill virtual ice fishing tournament will be held February 19-27. This virtual tournament is a great way to spend time together outside, with a chance to win prizes! There’s $2,000 up for grabs, with prizes for the Longest Pike and Longest Walleye. The entry fee is only $20. To sign up, follow the link on the Destination Fort Frances Facebook page or website.
  • Take-home activity kits will be available from the Fort Frances Library, beginning February 22. The STEM activity is “Fishing for Ice”, with each participant being entered to win a prize basket.
  • Let’s fill the town with snow-fish sculptures! A snow painting kit will be ready for pick-up from the Fort Frances Museum, starting February 22. Families are encouraged to sculpt a fish out of snow, then paint and decorate it, for a chance to win prizes. A photo contest will determine the first, second and third place finishers, with all participants entered to win a prize pack.
  • A Medallion Hunt will take place across local businesses. A clue will be posted each day on the Fort Frances Chamber of Commerce Facebook page, with the top hunter winning $500 in local gift certificates.

The U11 AA Canadians are hosting a home tournament called The Canadians Cup Feb 18-20th 2022 at The Fort Frances Memorial Sportsplex. The opening ceremonies are at 3:30pm Feb 18th 2022. Free Admission all weekend.

A 55+ Movie Matinée will take place March 4 at 1:00 pm at the Fort Frances Public Library Technology Centre. Free admission! We will be showing “Belfast” – A young boy and his working-class Belfast family experience the tumultuous late 1960s. Rated PG-13. 1hr 37m. Covid-19 protocols in place; proof of vaccination required. Birch Bark Yarns is (virtually) hosting the 100 day shawl Knit-A-Long! The Right Relations Circle meets the 3rd Tuesday of each month at the Fort Frances Museum & Cultural Centre at 10 a.m. – EVERYONE WELCOME. This community group is committed to improving settler-Indigenous relations in the Rainy River District (Treaty 3 territory) through education, outreach, sharing, and advocacy on issues of reconciliation, diversity, and inclusion.
