The Salvations Army is moving! The Salvation Army THRIFT STORE, Community Family Services & Ministries tare on the move to 242 Scott Street. This move will result in future sustainability to ensure service to the community for years to come. During the transition, they will be unable to accept clothing and household item donations. However, anyone wishing to make a financial donation can do so by via Canada Post to:  The Salvation Army Fort Frances Corps, PO Box 101, Fort Frances, ON  P9A 3M5. During this transition time the food bank is accessible through the 351 Scott Street location.  Christmas Hamper applications can be requested by calling 807.274.3871 or emailing fort.hamper@salvationarmy.ca

Musical Pathways Theatre and the FFHS Theatre Arts Department are presenting All Together Now! It’s a global event, celebrating local theatre. The show will be November 12 and 13 at 7:30 p.m. with a Sunday Matinee on November 14, at 2 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adulkts, and $12 for students and seniors. Tickets available at Northwoods Gallery and Gifts.

Knox United Church (Fort Frances) is holding their Soup for the Soul fundraiser in November. Varieties available are wild rice, hamburger, or lentil (vegetarian) in 32oz and 16oz sizes for $10 and $5 respectively. Soups will be frozen and available for pickup between 10:00 AM and 12:00 noon on Sat- urday, November 20th. Fresh soups are also available in advance, by request. Fort Frances Curling Club – Friday Night Fun Curling is back November 19th to December 17th. Fridays 7:00 pm – 6 end games. 3 or 4 person, mixed teams, all ages welcome. To register call 274-6667.

The Fort Frances Lions Club is bringing back TV Bingo! It will run Thursday nights at 6:30 p.m., on Shaw Cable, beginning November 4. Tickets at all the usual places.

Samaritan’s Purse “Christmas Child Shoe Boxes” are ready for pick-up at Lowery’s and The Bargain Shop. Fill a box to brighten the life of a child. Collection week is November 15-21.

The Right Relations Circle meets the 3rd Tuesday of each month at the Fort Frances Museum & Cultural Centre at 10 a.m. – EVERYONE WELCOME. This community group is committed to improving settler-Indigenous relations in the Rainy River District (Treaty 3 territory) through education, outreach, sharing, and advocacy on issues of reconciliation, diversity, and inclusion.

Volunteer opportunities

The Fort Frances Meals on Wheels is seeking volunteer drivers to deliver meals to seniors. To join in, or get more information, call the Riverside Community Support Services at 274-2244.

The Fort Frances Senior Centre is looking for a few volunteers to work on a casual basis covering for someone when they cannot come in. Please call Cindy at 807-271-2021.

The Fort Frances Lakers are looking for billet families and a billet coordinator, to provide a home away from home for players. To join, or just to find out what’s involved, call Sarah at 275-6991.

Rainy River District Victim Services Program is looking for compassionate and empathetic individuals for our team of volunteers. Our volunteers provide emotional and practical support to victims in their time of need. Individuals in all major centers of the District (Atikokan, Fort Frances and Rainy River) are encouraged to apply.  Free specialized training is included and involves 30 online hours (work at your own pace) and 10 hours of in house certificate training based on Ministry Standards. The FORT FRANCES VOLUNTEER BUREAU (FFVB) is accepting applications for membership renewals and new member volunteers. If you are a volunteer or someone interested in volunteering and believe in the positive impact volunteers have on our community, please pick up an application form at the FFVB (open 11:00 am to 3:00 pm daily) or send an email to fortfrancesvb@gmail.com requesting an application form.

Best for Kitty is in desperate need of foster homes to provide a safe and loving environment, while kittens and cats await their furever homes. Many cats have had to be turned away from the shelter, due to a lack of fosters. Full support and supplies are provided. The Rainycrest Tuck Shop is accepting donations, with fall and winter approaching. The Tuck Shop is open to residents, family, staff and visitors. We could use large stuffed bears, men’s and ladies’ slippers, socks, hats, personal care items and items for residents to place on their night stands or wall/door décor as well as gift items and knick knacks. Residents are always excited to see new items in the Tuck Shop! Proceeds from the shop go to the Rainycrest Auxiliary, which enhances the home for residents. Many thanks for all donations received. Donations can be dropped inside the main entrance of Rainycrest, labelled ATTN: Gary Tuck Shop.
