The Fort Frances Sportsmen’s Club is holding its Annual General Meeting, Saturday Oct. 2 at 9:30 a.m. The meeting will be outdoors at the FFSC. Dress for the weather and bring a chair. Directors will be chosen. Membership must be paid to be able to vote.

A Life Chain Event will take place Sunday, October 3, from 2:30-3:30 p.m. Chain will start on the North side of Scott Street, at the corner of Victoria, and stretch west from there.

The Bargain Shop, in Fort Frances, is currently holding their ANNUAL THANKSGIVING FOOD DRIVE. Items can be purchased in the store which will be donated to The Salvation Army to assist in making Thanksgiving plentiful for families right here in town. If you’re able to contribute, Dawn Gray and her team would be delighted to see you. This year, The Salvation Army has served over 2,300 children, women and men through our local Food Bank. The have seen an increase over last year and more than 10 per cent of this increase is attributed to working families simply trying to make ends meet. Your thoughtful support means nourishment and restful sleeps for parents. Thanksgiving Food Drive is on until end of day, Friday, October 8.

A free community take-out barbecue will be held Wednesday, October 6, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in honour of Mental health Awareness Week. Stop by the Canadian Mental health organization, 612 Portage Ave in Fort Frances to take part.

Walk a Mile in her Shoes is a walk in support of domestic violence awareness, and for the lives lost, survivors and those still struggling. Organizers are calling for the public, as well as first responders and nurses to meet at Rainy Lake Square, Friday October 8, between noon and 2 p.m.

A charity garage sale is being held to support the renovation of the Dance Hall, in Dance Township. It will take place at the Millenium Park in Alberton, Saturday, October 9. Donations and volunteers are needed. Call Joanne Hyatt at 486-3100.

The Right Relations Circle meets the 3rd Tuesday of each month at the Fort Frances Museum & Cultural Centre at 10 a.m. – EVERYONE WELCOME. This community group is committed to improving settler-Indigenous relations in the Rainy River District (Treaty 3 territory) through education, outreach, sharing, and advocacy on issues of reconciliation, diversity, and inclusion.

Victory Baptist Church is holding a kids’ club for ages 4-12. Awana Clubs has games, bible memory, food and lessons for life to help kids live in hope, not fear. The club will meet Thursday nights until December 8, from 6-7 p.m. Call 274-1472 to join.

The Fort Frances EarlyON Centre has re-opened programming to in-person outdoor events! Each week brings new activities, staged at area parks. Activities include picnics, craft time, open play, and other events.
