There will be an opening and art walk of the wonderful windows along Scott St. on Friday, May 1 at 1 p.m. Join us at Rainy Lake Square and walk down the street as we officially recognize the Windows Alive project. Celebrate local artists’ work admire the vibrant window art and community spirit. After the walk enjoy sweet treats and a beverage with friends, business owners and artists.
St. John the Baptist Anglican Church is hosting a roast beef dinner on Friday May 1 from 5-7 p.m. Roast Beef mashed potatoes, vegetables, salads, pie, coffee, or tea. Adults $25, 6-10 $12, 5 and under free. Take-out and delivery available call 807-275-9330.
The final Kids & Company performance of the year features Chris McKhool: Earth Seas & Air. On Monday May 4 at 6 p.m. at in the gym at St. Mary School. The show is free for everyone to attend. Donations accepted. This award-winning show is fully interactive, as kids join the band on stage playing percussion instruments from around the globe, dance to the global grooves, and sing songs about taking care of our planet. For three decades, Chris has taken his audience beyond the 3 R’s of ecology (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) to a new level of understanding of our global connection to forests, air,water and animals. Everyone leaves with the feeling that they can really make a difference!
The Rainy River District Festival of the Performing Arts will hold its highlights concert on Tuesday, May 6 at 6:30 p.m. at the Townshend Theatre. Admission $5 per person.
CMHA Fort Frances will host its annual Mental Health Week BBQ Wednesday May 6 starting at 11 a.m. no pre-orders. You must show up to receive a lunch, drive, walk, bike up. Location TBD during renovations.
Flora’s Walk for Perinatal Mental Health organized by NorthWest Ontario Counselling & Consulting will take place Friday, May 8, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Check out their Facebook Page for more information or to donate.

Join us at the Fort Frances Public Library for our annual Spring Concert by the wonderful Rainy Lake Community Orchestra! Monday, May 11 at 6:30 p.m.
Spring Cleaning at the Library–May 15, 10 a.m. Rain Date May 22. The Fort Frances Public Library is looking for volunteers to help clean up our grounds and gardens this spring! Tasks include picking up garbage, pruning, and weeding. Participants can give as much time as they would like. To sign up, ncall the library at 807-274-9879.

Come out to the Fort Frances Public Library for kids yoga Tuesdays at 4 p.m. Learn some yoga poses, meditation techniques and let out some energy with UNFC’s healthy living kids program coordinator! Memory Lane Cafe with the Alzheimer Society Kenora and Rainy River Districts. A space where individuals living with dementia and their care partners can socialize, and enjoy engaging activities. Offers a supportive environment to share experiences, and access community support. Meets at the Fort Frances Senior Centre, 1 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
The La Verendrye General Hospital Auxiliary Gift Shop is looking for volunteers. Hours are Mon.-Fri. from noon – 3:30. OPP criminal record check required. Help is available with this, as well as gift shop training and support. All funds raised go to the Auxiliary to honour our pledges for capital equipment at La Verendrye General Hospital. The Rainycrest Tuck Shop is accepting donations– The Tuck Shop is open to residents, family, staff and visitors. Great items for donation are things like stuffed bears, gift items and items for residents to place on their night stands or wall/door. Proceeds from the Tuck Shop go to the Rainycrest Auxiliary, and benefit residents. Drop off donations off inside the main entrance, labelled ATTN: Tuck Shop.
