The Fort Frances Public Library is hosting a reading of Don’t you Dare Run Away a new comedic play by Robin Taylor Wright featuring local talents Darren Derendorf, Ken Kellar, Kathryn Pierroz, Kate Stevens, and Jennifer Thorpe. 6:30 p.m. Wednesday Apr. 22 in the Shaw room. No admission charge, donations to the actors appreciated. Recommended for those ages 12+.

The Fort Frances Ducks Unlimited Dinner will take place Apr. 25, 2026 at La Place Rendez-Vous. Doors open 5:30 p.m. dinner at 7 p.m. Tickets are $65. Tour De Fort is hosting a concert featuring Americana Blues artist Sandra Bouza on April 27 at 7:30 p.m. tickets are available online at tourdefort.com and at the Fort Frances Library and Ski’s Variety.
Save the Date Town of Fort Frances Volunteer appreciation BBQ – April 30th from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30pm at Memorial Sports Centre, Town Council and Town Employees will be throwing a barbecue inviting anyone who volunteers their time in the Town of Fort Frances to attend! No need to RSVP – just show up! There will be food (while supplies last), speeches, draw prizes, and some light activities! We’ll also be announcing our Outstanding Citizen Awards. Volunteers are people who deserve to be celebrated all-year round. We’re honoured to have this opportunity to say thank you.
The final Kids & Company performance of the year features Chris McKhool: Earth Seas & Air. On Monday May 4 at 6 p.m. at in the gym at St. Mary School. The show is free for everyone to attend. Donations accepted. This award-winning show is fully interactive, as kids join the band on stage playing percussion instruments from around the globe, dance to the global grooves, and sing songs about taking care of our planet. For three decades, Chris has taken his audience beyond the 3 R’s of ecology (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) to a new level of understanding of our global connection to forests, air, water and animals. Everyone leaves with the feeling that they can really make a difference!
CMHA Fort Frances will host its annual Mental Health Week BBQ Wednesday May 6 starting at 11 a.m. no pre-orders. You must show up to receive a lunch, drive, walk, bike up. Location TBD during renovations.
Flora’s Walk for Perinatal Mental Health organized by NorthWest Ontario Counselling & Consulting will take place Friday, May 8, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Check out their Facebook Page for more information or to donate.
Spring Cleaning at the Library–May 15, 10 a.m. Rain Date May 22. The Fort Frances Public Library is looking for volunteers to help clean up our grounds and gardens this spring! Tasks include picking up garbage, pruning, and weeding. Participants can give as much time as they would like. To sign up, call the library at 807-274-9879.

Pokémon Club at the Fort Frances Public Library is held Fridays at 4 p.m. New to Pokémon? Learn how to play and develop your skills! Recommended for ages 8-14+. Please bring your own snacks.
Lego Club at the Fort Frances Public Library, every Thursday from 3:30-5 p.m. come build, create and connect. Compete in Lego building challenges, create unique builds and build big!
Come out to the Fort Frances Public Library for kids yoga Tuesdays at 4 p.m. Learn some yoga poses, meditation techniques and let out some energy with UNFC’s healthy living kids program coordinator! Memory Lane Cafe with the Alzheimer Society Kenora and Rainy River Districts. A space where individuals living with dementia and their care partners can socialize, and enjoy engaging activities. Offers a supportive environment to share experiences, and access community support. Meets at the Fort Frances Senior Centre, 1 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
The La Verendrye General Hospital Auxiliary Gift Shop is looking for volunteers. The hours are Monday-Friday, from noon – 3:30 p.m. OPP criminal record check is required. Help is available with this, as well as gift shop training and support. All funds raised go to the Auxiliary to honour our pledges for capital equipment at La Verendrye General Hospital.
