The Fort Frances Chamber of Commerce and BIA are hosting an evening of pumpkin carving at the Rainy Lake Square Friday Oct. 17 at 6 p.m One pumpkin per family, bring your own carving tools. Hot Dogs and Apple Cider will be served. Register at The Laundry Centre, limited pumpkins available. Chris Whalen of Tit4Tat tattooing with a steady hand and artistic eye will also be on hand.

Bearing Witness: Holocaust Education and Survivor Testimony With Nate Leipciger: at the Townshend Theatre from 6:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday, October 21.
In partnership with the Fort Frances Museum & Cultural Centre, we are honored to welcome Nate Leipciger, a 97-year-old survivor of Auschwitz-Birkenau and lifelong advocate for Holocaust education. Before Nate’s testimony, Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center will present their powerful workshop “Lessons and Legacies of the Holocaust,” exploring the history and ongoing relevance of the Holocaust in today’s world. This is a completely FREE presentation, open to all, though please note that it contains sensitive content.
Author Visit with Carey Scheppner Thursday, October 23 5-6 PM As part of Ontario Public Library Week, Kakabeka author Carey Scheppner will be visiting the Fort Frances Public Library to read from his four published Sci-Fi/Fantasy novels. Seven Generations Education Insititute Rainy Lake Campus will be hosting a Haunted School, on Oct. 30 from 6-8 p.m. “Join us for our spoooooooooky Haunted School! We’ll have Halloween games, an outdoor fire, marshmallow roasting, treats, a haunted house, and fun Halloween activities planned by SGEI’s own Early Childhood Education students! Haunted house and activities suited for kids ages 2½ to 10.” No registration required, free and open to everyone, costumes encouraged.

The Rainycrest Tuck Shop is accepting donations– The Tuck Shop is open to residents, family, staff and visitors. Great items for donation are things like large stuffed bears, knick knacks, gift items and items for residents to place on their night stands or wall/door. Proceeds from the Tuck Shop go to the Rainycrest Auxiliary, which benefits residents. Donations can be dropped off inside the main entrance, labelled ATTN: Tuck Shop.
