The Fort Frances Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Seniors Car Rally Scavenger Hunt on Wednesday, June 9 beginning at 1:00 p.m. Pariticpants will begin at the Chamber office at 240 First Street and follow the instructions. Winners will be announced on June 10. to register please call 274-5773.

The Fort Frances Volunteer Bureau is organizing a children’s clothing giveaway, to offset the difficulty parents are having buying clothes during the lock-down. Donations are accepted daily at the old CN Station on 4th Street in Fort Frances. Parents who would like to search for needed items are asked to make an appointment, to maintain social distancing requirements. To book an appointment, call 274-9555.

The Fort Frances Volunteer Bureau will be holding its Annual General Meeting on Wednesday, June 23 at 6:30 p.m. via Zoom. Anyone interested in taking part can contact Laura Bruyere at or Bill Michl at for the Zoom invite.

The Salvation Army will be accepting items once again, for its Thrift Store, starting May 25, from 1-4 p.m. Clean clothing and useable household goods only. The store will remain closed until the lock-down is over, however, the food bank remains open by appointment.

The Rainycrest Tuck Shop, is in need of items! Top of the list is large stuffies, purses, and lap blankets. Crafters are welcome to make and donate! Also accepted are knick knacks, jewelry, CD’s, small stuffed animals, decorative items & movies. No kitchen items please – residents no longer cook. The shop also has enough books at this time. Residents love to go shop- ping and this means the world to them. Items can be left inside the front door. A label saying “Attention Gary in the Tuck Shop” is helpful. If possible, call and tell them you are coming and someone will pick up your goodies quickly from the front door. Thanks in advance for helping to brighten the lives of our senior residents in Rainycrest!

Project Petunia needs your help! The Fort Frances Museum has taken over Project Petunia, which purchases the flower baskets installed along King’s Highway each summer. Baskets can be sponsored for $50 each, but all donations are welcome. To chip in, contact the Fort Frances Museum at 274-7891.

The Fort Frances Writer’s Group meets virtually at 4:30 every second Wednesday of the month. Share your work and get some feedback from like-minded writers! If you’d like to attend, call the Museum at 274-7891 or message them over Facebook for the Zoom link.

The FORT FRANCES VOLUNTEER BUREAU (FFVB) is accepting applications for membership renewals and new member volunteers for this upcoming year running April 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022. If you are a volunteer or someone interested in volunteering and believe in the positive impact volunteers have on our community, please pick up an application form at the FFVB (open 11:00 am to 3:00 pm daily) or send an email to requesting an application form.

Best for Kitty, previously known as Paws and Claws Canada is in desperate need of foster homes. With kitten season just around the corner, fosters will be needed to provide a safe and loving environment while kittens and cats await their forever homes. Be a part of all that cuteness.
