Remembrance Day ceremonies at Couchiching First Nation will take place November 11 at 11 a.m. at the cenotaph behind the Band Office.
Remembrance Day Ceremonies for the Fort Frances Legion Branch 29 will be live streamed at 11 a.m. on the Legion’s Facebook page. The legion is also asking residents to show their support for veterans by decorating windows and doors with poppies. All Royal Canadian Legion services are closed to the public this year, due to COVID restrictions. Those wishing to pay respects or lay wreaths are asked to do so after the official ceremonies are complete.
The Pjs and Pearls Virtual Gala will be held November 28, organized by the Legion Ladies Auxiliary to Br#29. This Ladies Night IN will feature dinner, prizes, games and entertainment, all taking place over Facebook Live. Tickets are $40 per person. The Fort Frances Senior’s Centre is resuming activities, both on and off site. The arena auditorium will host BINGO, each Friday ay 1:30, beginning November 6. Tai Chi will be held Wednesday mornings, beginning November 4. The workshop is currently open, one or two days a week. A coat exchange is being held by The Associates of St. Marguerite d’Youville, in partnership with the Volunteer Bureau. Pick-up and drop-off is daily from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Family Centre, located at the Old CN Station. Coats, boots and mittens for men, women and children, will be accepted throughout the winter for those in need.
A Free Tipping Day, for lawn and garden waste, will be held at the Fort Frances landfill, November 7 from 10 a.m. To 5 p.m.

Fort Frances Girls Hockey Radio Bingo is back! Starting October 19, the bingo will run Mondays at 7 p.m., on CFOB. Prizes range from $500 to $1500. Cards are available at Windey’s, CC Complex, Rainy Lake Sports, Ski’s Variety, Einar’s Grocery, The Place, Taggs, Cloverleaf and Zig’s Place.

Flu shots, are by appointment only at the Fort Frances Community Clinic. Appointments will be available every Tuesday and Thursday in October, from 1-4 p.m. Patients are asked to wear a short-sleeved shirt, and a mask. A Strollercize program is being held every Tuesday at 10 a.m. beginning at the Sorting Gap Marina. United Native Friendship Centre Urban Aboriginal Healthy Living for Kids worker Lori will guide participants through cardio and strength training sessions while your child will get some fresh air.
The Salvation Army has re-opened to customers. Hours have been modified, running Monday through Friday, 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Donations can be dropped at the door between 1 p.m. and 4:40 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The Fort Frances Public Library has now reopened to the public with limited hours, but still offers curbside pick-up. Open hours are now Tuesdays 3-7 p.m., and Wednesdays from 11 a.m. To 3 p.m. Curbside pick-up is Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. To 2 p.m. and Wednesday from 4-7 p.m.
The Valley Adult Learning Association is offering a variety of free online courses for adults age 19 or older. Anishinaabemodaa – Waking up Ojibwe – is a partnership between Seven Generations Institute, SayitFirst and the Rainy River District School Board. Their Facebook page posts videos and other resources to give First Nations kids, a way to hear and learn their own language.
