Staff Sandbags line the La Verendrye Parkway (Front Street) as a precautionary measure as water levels continue to rise on Rainy Lake and the upper Rainy River. Local residents volunteered their time to the cause and completed sandbagging efforts yesterday.

Despite thundershowers that began just prior to the luminary ceremony, the 16 teams taking part managed to raise almost $53,000 for cancer programs and research.
