Arthur was born April 17, 1928 in Fort Frances, Ont. He was known for his work ethic, which began at a very young age and never stopped.
After serving in the Korean War with the PPCLI, Arthur and his wife, Florence, raised their family in the Fort Frances region. The family moved to southwestern Manitoba in the 1970s and stayed there for more than 10 years, when they returned to Couchiching First Nation, where he often was found tinkering in his shed, building something from nothing, or enjoying the company of his friends and family.
He enjoyed spending his time on the land, going up to his cabin, as well as sharing his experiences as a veteran.
Arthur will be most remembered for his exceptional and unique sense of humour, which he shared and passed down do his family and all those who knew him.
He was a strong man who battled with cancer for 10 years. Arthur spent the last year of his life in the care of his granddaughter, Kathy Marie, and her partner, Shawn, and then last few weeks of his life in the excellent care of Rainycrest Home for the Aged.
