Elsie Simila, 85, of Burriss, Ont., passed away Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002 at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.
Elsie was predeceased by her husband, Arnold, on May 19, 1996; parents, Warner and Ida Hovi; and brother, Eddie.
She is survived by her close friend and caregiver, Wayne Maki.
Elsie was born March 1, 1916 in Fort Frances. She was united in marriage to Arnold on March 17, 1941 and together they farmed in Burriss.
She loved to spend time in the garden, nursing orphaned animals, and spending time out in the woods. She was a generous and giving person.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2002 at 2 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, with Capt. Eric Alcock of the Salvation Army officiating.
Interment will take place in Burriss Cemetery in Burriss.
Pallbearers were Rob Maki, Robert Hamman, Art Mattson, Sulo Maki, Henry Niskala, and Tom Morrish.
The honourary pallbearer was Gale Donaldson.
