It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our mother, Bernice Winnifred Sophia Jerry (nee Scott), who passed away peacefully in her sleep at Dawson Court Home for the Aged on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at the age of 75.
Bernice was born Feb. 19 1939 in Dobie Township, Ont.
She was predeceased by parents, John and Agnes Scott; and brothers, Sandy (Alexander), Jim (James), and Donald Scott.
Bernice is survived by her daughters, Patricia (Patty) Pattison (Gordie) of Stratton, Ont. and Panda Jerry of Thunder Bay, Ont.; grandchildren, Christine Rooker (Clinton) and Corrie Thompson (Darwin) of Fort Frances, Ont., and Charlotte Green (Allan) of Thunder Bay, Ont.; and great-grandchildren, Jade and Rodney Green, and Caytlin and Carley Rooker.
Also surviving are her brother, Jake Scott of Emo, Ont.; sisters, Ruth Scott of New Westminister, B.C., Clara Scott of Sooke, B.C., Alexandria Midtdal of Kelowna B.C., and Ann of Princeton, B.C.; and many nieces and nephews.
Bernice had various cleaning jobs at tourist camps, La Verendrye Hospital, and Atikokan High School. She also baby-sat children in Terrace, B.C., where she lived.
Bernice loved the outdoors and living at Crilly, working in her flower gardens and walking her Doberman Dutchess. When she couldn’t be outside, you would find her sitting in a chair with a cup of tea knitting or crocheting socks, sweaters, etc.
She took great pride in her work. She also preserved jams and jellies.
Bernice spent her last few years in Dawson Court, where she spent hours knitting socks for various staff members. She also enjoyed going out for car rides, looking at flowers, and visits from her daughters.
She will be missed by Patty (Gordie), Panda, and “Molly” (the little dog who loved Bernice)
There will be no service at this time.
